Standing by choice?

I don’t get it. It’s a fresh new train arriving empty into the station. It’s been cleaned before it got here. There are bugger all people on board. There is your choice of seats and seat types. The train leaves in 10 minutes and the next stop is 51 minutes away. Why on earth would you choose to stand in the corridoor between first class and the buffet car? It makes no sense at all. If you need the buffet car then get a seat by the hatch and get up when it opens, or is there such a queue that you need to start queuing now? In which case what is it that you’re so desperate to purchase. Nicer and cheaper versions of eveything on sale us available in the station. You could have purchased something and then got on the train a few minutes later with your comestables. Some people are just plain weird.
