Holiday Travel

So I appreciate the need for Notwork Rail to perform engineering work but it’s beginning to get very silly. I thought they’d done the line south of Colchester over the previous God knows how many months but it turns out that, yet again, come a bank holiday they shut everything down. I’ll now be getting to and from London on a bus, not a train, taking an extra 40 minutes and I’ll no longer be visiting my parents because it’ll take something like 4 hours to get to them from where I’ll be! Maybe I’m just being naive when I think that, one day, I’ll be able to travel weekends and bank holidays with ease.

  1. I’m pretty sure that the “new era” that National Express speak of is one where buses replace trains all the time.

I hated living up that way - each weekend trip to London meant I wrote off up to half of my Sunday just getting back.
