A few days ago strange marks appeared on platform 3 at Colchester. These marks could only mean one thing: they were going to be digging stuff up. I remember vaguely wondering how long the work would take and if having to get on the train on platform 2 (which normally takes trains heading in the opposite direction) was going to cause delays. It would appear, however, that at some point during the past few days they’ve done whatever work they were going to do as I noticed nice shiny new tarmac on the platform this morning. How long it’s been there I couldn’t tell you, it can sometimes take a few days for me to notice things in the morning.
