I was at Shenfield station this weekend on my way back from visiting a friend. As I waited for a Colchester bound train a youf entered the platform having carried his bike up the steps and promptly proceeded to ride it to where he wanted to be. Almost instantly a PA announcement was made: Please do not ride your bike on the platform. Please do not ride your bike on the platform (I’m guessing it’s made twice as the youf of today can be a bit slow). Our cyclist was a little stunned but heeded the warning, got off the saddle and proceeded to do that riding the bike while stood on one peddle thing. The PA spring into life again: No, walk the bike. Suitably abashed he got off completely and walked the bike.

My favourite PA telling off of all time, however, has to be an incident at Kings Cross Thameslink: May I remind passengers that this is a no pissing station, that includes the man on platform A, we can see you from every conceivable angle.
