Wrong kind of wind

Its hardly surprising that given today’s weather the travel situation in London is completely up the spout, although one would have hoped that the travel websites would have faired better. The Register has a report of the Southern Railway website being replaced with a ‘Website Unavailable’ page. One railway’s website did an even poorer job of coping greeting me with a “Server Busy” error page every time I went to check it.

Meanwhile the press are sensationalising everything. I didn’t even bother consider travelling to my house with reports of London Bridge being closed to passengers. If you read beyond the headlines though you discover that the entrance has been closed and passengers are not allowed to enter or exit the station. They are still allowed to use the station as an interchange and trains are still running through it (all be it late).

I dread tomorrows articles and fear that the phrase ‘blitz mentality’ will be hauled out, dusted off and overused as it is every time something ‘bad’ happens in London. I suspect it will be more of a slacker mentality as many use ‘train problems’ as an excuse to have a long weekend.
